The video starts out with Virgin founder Richard Branson and Nest CEO Tony Fadell announcing a seemingly great feature on all future Virgin America flights, but as the video continues you quickly realize its absurdity.
It turns out that the “Total Climate Control” feature coming to all Virgin America flights was a just a very imaginative April Fool’s joke, but it doesn’t mean this marketing tactic was something to laugh at. Virgin’s marketing has always been fantastic in our book, with the fun flight safety video, Boo the Pet Liaison and maybe even the Star Wars Day Ewok Cam, because there is something to be said about poking fun at yourself for the sake of helping others relate to you on a human level (there’s those pesky emotions again). This creates a memorable personal relationship with your brand.
